Harley-Davidson Announces Layoffs in York County
On August 31, 2016, Harley-Davidson announced it was laying off, between 100 to 200 employees at the York facility. According to an article in “The Street”, the full year’s projected shipped motorcycles will be off by approximately 5,000 units. That same article states that both full time and casual employees will be part of the lay-off.
In a local paper, the Harrisburg Patriot News, the number of lay-offs was thought to be half of that projected by “The Street” or 100 total. The Patriot News noted that the Plant employs “more than 1,000” people.
If you are subject to lay-off AND you are on modified duty due to a work injury, you may be entitled to BOTH Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation AND unemployment under certain conditions. You should contact your Union Representative and a Certified Workers’ Compensation Specialist to determine your options as soon as possible.
